Background
Caris is the owner of Orion Ag Consulting. She holds a BSc Agriculture Science (Hons) from UWA and grew up on her family’s sheep and wheat operation in WA. Caris spent close to a decade working on MLA-funded livestock genetics programs, including as Project Manager – Livestock Genetics and Executive Officer for the National Livestock Genetics Consortium Taskforce.
About Orion Ag Consulting
Orion Ag Consulting was established in 2021 to bridge the gap between livestock research and on-farm practice — primarily in sheep and beef breeding systems.
We have a project focus to facilitate the answers to ‘why’ and ‘how’ on-farm.
Current and recent work
Orion Ag was involved in the recent review of BWFW and is now an approved deliverer for Sheep and Southern Beef
AWI’s Flystrike Extension Program includes ClassiFly, a workshop for breeding sheep that are resistant to flystrike.
Orion Ag was involved in development.
The Carcase & EQ benchmark project is well underway with Orion Ag as the project manager
